East Texans are Preparing for a Pandemic Flu Outbreak

Some East Texans are now better informed about how to be ready for a flu outbreak. A health and biosecurity expert spoke about the topic in Lufkin Friday.

There is growing concern a flu pandemic could hit this country, so now is the time to plan ahead just in case.

Dr. David Lakey of the Center for Biosecurity & Public Health Preparedness said, "Things that you can do is stockpile extra food. You can do that cheap with rice in big bags. Peanut butter in bulk quanities is very cheap. Other inexpensive items in bulk quanities most households can afford to prepare with."

You can see Dr. Lakey's presentation on this month's edition of 'Inside East Texas'. It airs at 8:30 a.m. on June 18th on KTRE.
