Summer Heat Means High Energy Bills

by Jessica Cervantez

With the summer heat just beginning, a lot of air conditioners are turned on, and that can mean high energy bills.

But, if you are a TXU customer, then you are eligible to get crews to weatherize your home for free. It is part of a program, where TXU contracts with companies to help you save money on energy bills.

Robbie Beall, with Enercore Energy Efficiency Solutions, said, "It lets us find the outside leakage that your house has, outside leakage that your duct system has, and lets us come in and seal it up.  It should save your energy bill anywhere from 10% to 25%."

TXU customers just have to contact one of the companies, and they will help make your home more energy efficient.

Lois Alexander, who just had her home weatherized, said, "We need to save every penny that you can and you know how hot your summers get."

One way to lower energy bills on your own, is to use compact fluorescent bulbs throughout your home. Those bulbs cost about $6.

Also, when you leave for the day never turn off your air conditioner, just raise the temperature. All simple tips, that can help you save money on your energy bills.

You can contact Enercore at (936) 615-2179 or Pierce Duct Blasting at (936) 554-8010.
