Residents Don't Want Drug Rehab Built

Many East Texans enjoy living in this part of the country because of the rural neighborhoods. But one community is up in arms about a drug rehab center being built in their backyard.

Don Cable has lived in rural Angelina County for more than 40 years.  He moved to this area to escape the problems of city living. He says when he moved  here in 1966 there was hardly anybody in the area.

The area is still pretty rural but it may not be for long because a piece of land just off Foster Road outside the Hudson city limits is the proposed site for a drug rehab center.

Cable is concerned about the impact a drug rehab center would have on his neighborhood. "We don't know what they are doing.  We don't know the level of security."

The Season of Hope Drug Rehab Center is a dream for Kevin Poage, pastor of the Clawson Assembly of God Church. Poage says despite the controversy his only mission is to lead drug addicts to Christ.

Don Cable says if the rehab center is built he'll have to take extra precautions.
