One of six defendants in a murder for hire case in East Texas has been excused from going to trial. He's now awaiting transport to a state mental hospital for treatment and evaluation. Dallas Christian was declared incompetent to stand trial last month. A doctor made the recommendation based on a psychiatric evaluation. Christian won't go to Vernon State Hospital until late July. He's being held in connection with the murder of James Kelly who was shot in the head while sleeping at his home in Cushing last year. The capital murder trial of Marcia Kelly the victim's wife will begin at the end of next month. She's accused of arranging the shooting.
