Drunk Driver Sentenced to Prison

A Lufkin man who caused a deadly accident last July has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Authorities charged 22-year-old Tyrone Brown with intoxication manslaughter. He crashed head-on into 44-year-old Wendell Porter on FM 2497 near Hudson.

Porter died in the July 5th crash. His passenger was also hurt. Brown had been drinking before the wreck. Porter's father is relieved to see Brown go to prison.

James Porter said, "Maybe the sentence will be a deterrent to someone else who decides that they want to drink and get on the road and drive. Maybe that will help someone else and save some other person's life."

Brown pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter back in February.
