Firefighters Get a Big 'Thank You'

Friday was a special day for the Etoile Volunteer Fire Department. Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment dropped by to say thanks for the hospitality they were shown a few weeks ago.

The troops were on their way from a training exercise in Louisiana when their bus overheated in Etoile. The soldiers were left hot, hungry, and stranded in front of the fire station, but they didn't stay that way for long.

Fireman Kevin Holder said, "These guys, they spend so much time protecting people in the community, that we feel like we wanted to show them what was worth protecting and what was worth fighting for, and that's good people that are still in this world."

During their stay, the Ladies Firefighter Auxiliary fed the nearly 60 soldiers a spaghetti dinner with dessert. They were on their way back to Fort Hood when their bus broke down.
