Man Charged After High Speed Chase

An East Texas man is facing several charges after leading police on a high speed chase over the weekend. Authorities charged Billy Gazaway with evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, assault causing bodily injury, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Lufkin police responded to a fight between Gazaway and his girlfriend early Sunday. Gazaway had also taken the woman's car without her permission.

The chase started on highway 94 and continued into Hudson. It ended after Gazaway lost control of the car.

Investigators said he was drunk and they clocked him going as fast as 95 miles an hour at one point during the chase.
