A Long Time City Leader is Leaving

Lufkin's assistant city manager has accepted a position with the second largest city in Angelina County.

Kenneth Williams is Diboll's new city manager. He hopes to start his new job sometime next month. Williams said Lufkin city leaders have been great during his 18-year stay.

Diboll has a population of almost 6,000 people and is facing the same economic issues and challenges as other cities.

"It's a well run city," Williams said. "It's got a great history with Temple and Temple Inland. It's financially sound. It was a great opportunity for me or for any city manager to apply for."

The Diboll City Council still has to vote on the final terms of Williams' contract. They'll do that at a meeting Friday night.
