Budget talks are underway. Nacogdoches County commissioners are spending days hearing from department heads and doing the math for next year's budget. Increased needs driven by fuel costs and state mandates are often appearing on lists. Judge Sue Kennedy said, "We need to create a collections department now. That has to be up and running by April of 2007, so we're going to be looking at that additional cost. We're hoping in that projection we can add to it the additional revenue that obviously that collection department will also bring in."
