State Representative Roy Blake, Jr. is pleased to announce the City of Nacogdoches has been awarded a $60,900.00 grant, approved on June 30, 2006, for improvements at A.L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport. The financial assistance will be used to update the airport layout plan.
"General aviation is very important to Nacogdoches and East Texas since we are not served by commercial air carriers." Rep. Blake stated. "It is very important to have an effective facility to accommodate general aviation as this is also an integral part of economic development."
State funds have been approved for ninety (90) percent of the estimated costs. The City of Nacogdoches has responsibility for the remaining ten (10) percent.
Victoria LaFollett-Koenig, Deputy City Manager of Nacogdoches, stated: "We are very pleased that the Texas Department of Transportation continues to support our economic development efforts here in Nacogdoches." LaFollett went on to further say: "This positions us to proceed forward with greater expansion plans as this will give a good, clean layout of the airport."
Representative Blake is committed to enhancing economic development in East Texas and Nacogdoches and looks forward to continually working with state and local leaders to accomplish this goal.
