The wet/dry petition that circulated around Angelina County for months has been certified by elections officials. The Commissioners Court will now place it on the November ballot.
About 10,000 voters signed the petition to get beer and wine sales in Angelina County. Just 7,000 valid signatures were needed to get the issue on the November ballot.
It will be the first county-wide vote on retail alcohol sales in history.
Elections Administrator Bill Shanklin said, "Now, you have to become a member of a club at the restaurant in order to order a mixed beverage. If this passes, then it simply means that any restaurant with a liquor license can serve mixed drinks."
