Proud of East Texas: Judith Lynne

A number of famous baby boomers, including President Bush, Suzanne Summers, and Paul McCartney celebrate their 60th birthdays this year. But while they've made their mark, East Texan Judith Lynne is just embarking on a country music career as she looks forward to her 60th birthday.

Judith loved to sing as a child but put away her dreams of becoming a professional when she married and had a family. Recently, at the encouragement of her husband, Judith began singing at local Oprys. Before long she had a recording contract, and her single "Lovin', Lyin', Loneliness, And Leavin'" from her first CD, has earned her gold and platinum records for international play. In addition, the "Tennessee Country Music Alliance" chose her "Modern Entertainer Of The Year" at their recent convention.

Judith Tapp, who is known as Judith Lynne in music, works as a legal assistant by day. Her co-workers are her biggest fans and she thinks the combination of jobs, just like her upcoming 60th birthday, are great in every way.

You can order Judith Lynne's CD at www.cdbaby.com or contact her at judytapp@yahoo.com.

More than a few tar-covered tires are hanging on to the parking lot of a Lufkin tire shop.  On August 31, newly laid asphalt on Loop 287 started sticking to tires of those driving, leaving many of the cars un-driveable. As of Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation hadn't come out with an official cause for the incident, but that hasn't stopped over 600 people from filing claims with them.
