Tax-Free Weekend

Stores all over Texas will be busy this weekend. It is tax-free weekend.  And this year, you have an extra day to shop.

This year tax-free weekend begins on Friday. Most clothes are tax-free as long as your purchase is under a hundred dollars. Store managers expect big crowds.

Linda Spain, the Ross manager, said, "We stock the store with extra stuff, we have been getting freight in for months, getting ready for this weekend."

With an extra day of shopping, stores might not be as crowded as previous years. There are several items not on the tax-free list. Backpacks, purses, bicycle helmets, and sewing supplies are among the items that remain taxed.  Items like jeans, jerseys, shoes, and socks will be tax free.
