The Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG), Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will be holding a public meeting in Lufkin on Monday, August 14, 2006, to work on a regional transportatin coordination plan. The meeting will be held in the Chambers park Community Center, 500 Pershiing Street, at 6:00 p.m. DETCOG, TTI AND TXDOT are working with local governments, major employers, non-profit human services organizations, citizens and residents of unincorporated and rural areas to creat a plan of action for the coordination and improvement of public transit services. The goals and objectives of the plan include:
*To improve the delivery of transportation services
*To generate efficiencies in operation
*To enhance customer service satisfaction
*To encourage cooperation and coordination
*To identify and address gaps in existing public transportation services
