Lufkin I.S.D. Welcomes New Instructors

Dozens of Lufkin teachers were introduced to their new school district at a luncheon Thursday afternoon.

Recruiters said getting teachers to come to Lufkin is easy because many teachers are willing to come to a small town as long as they're coming to a quality district.

Recruiter Joe Deason said, "We have a reputation of having one of the highest teacher retention rates in the State of Texas and a lot of our teachers are referred to us by other teachers, which means the teachers are happy and content in our district."

Administrators welcomed more than 50 new instructors, including 48 who have never taught before. There are now no teaching vacancies in the Lufkin school district.
