PETA Gets Involved in Animal Cruelty Case

An international animal rights organization wants an East Texas couple prosecuted for severely neglecting their pet.

Brenda and Tyrone Davis pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty, but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants them sent to prison.

PETA sent a letter to the Angelina County Attorney requesting the Davises undergo counseling and psychological evaluation if they're convicted.

PETA wants the couple barred from all future contact with animals. The county attorney will take that request into consideration.

A few weeks ago, the Davises' dog had to be taken straight to a vet and put down after animal control picked it up. Their next court date is set for September 18th.
