Authorities are investigating a messy wreck that shut down part of the north loop in Lufkin after a log truck flipped onto its side.
Investigators said a truck tractor pulling a dump trailer was on Spence Street and turned onto the loop to head west. A log truck headed east on the loop swerved to avoid hitting the truck tractor. Instead, the log truck skidded and lost its load when it got in front of the truck tractor.
One of those logs pinned 57-year-old Clay Wagner of Huntington inside his truck tractor. He was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries and is recovering from surgery.
Thirty-year-old Bradley Smith of Diboll had cuts and bruises after his log truck flipped. He was treated and released.
It took hours to clean up logs and diesel fuel that spilled all over the highway after the crash.
