A Lufkin Woman Speaks Out About West Nile

Katrena Lynch said, "It has gotten to the point where you just want to give up because there is no answer."

Lynch tested positive for West Nile two years ago.  She went to the doctor thinking she had the flu, only to find out it was something much more serious.

"I was in the hospital for five days."

Now, she takes about a dozen pills daily, to deal with the aches and pains she continues to suffer from on a daily basis.

Lynch said, "Every morning I'm in pain.  When I get up, I have to run a hot tub of water, and I get in that water, it relaxes my bones.  For me to go to work, I take Vicodin."

It's her family and her Bible that keep her strong, even when she says some days it is unbearable.

"I just want everyone to know that this is serious.  This has affected my life and my families life, some days I don't even know if I'm going to make it."
