POW/MIA Flag Presented to Angelina County Sheriff

The Vietnam Veterans of America made a patriotic tribute to the sheriff of Angelina County.   Chapter 931 presented a flag to Sheriff Kent Henson in honor of Prisoners of War and soldiers Missing in Action.

The flag is a symbol of close to 2,000 American troops still missing and unaccounted for from the Vietnam War. Several years ago, the Vietnam Veterans of America established the Veterans Initiative, an effort with Vietnamese officials to get more information about missing American POW and MIAs.

Veteran Michael Bishop said, "We've adopted the POW/MIA cause. We're demanding the return of all Missing in Action remains or the individuals to come back to American soil."

Friday is National POW-MIA Recognition Day. Three East Texas soldiers are on the Department of Defense Prisoners of War/Missing in Action list.
