2006 Forest Festival Attendance Breaks Records

by Ramonica R. Jones

The 22nd annual Texas State Forest Festival brought in more than $80,000. Attendance records were broken on four of the five nights.

Organizers said the number of people who showed up on Wednesday and Thursday nights was nearly double the attendance of the previous year. Preliminary numbers put the total attendance over the entire festival at more than 25,000 people.

Money raised during the forest festival will go to the Chamber of Commerce in Lufkin, the George H. Henderson, Jr. Expo Center, and the Texas Forestry Museum.
