Chris Bell made a campaign stop in East Texas Friday. The Democratic candidate for governor spoke with voters at the Angelina County Airport in Burke.
One of Bell's goals if he's elected governor of Texas is to get what he calls "real accountability" in the public school system.
Bell also plans to reduce the student-teacher ratio, improve curriculum, and raise teacher salaries to the national average.
"I don't think there're enough Band-Aids left in the box," said Bell. "I don't think we're just going to be able to fix public schools. We really need to be focused on improving public school education and working toward having the best public school system in the entire country within the next ten years."
