The Number of Drop Outs is Increasing

About one in every three Texas high school students drop out of school before they graduate.  And, studies show dropouts are more likely to wind up in jail.

Judge Billy Ball deals with many teenagers in Angelina County now in trouble with the law. The judge wants parents and students to know how important it can be to get an education.

Judge Ball said, "What are you going to do if you don't have an education?  You can't get a job, you have no means of support, so that leaves you out there, you've got to live.  So, what do you do? burglarize, you steal, you sell drugs, you sell your body."

Judge Ball says his main goal is to get more students educated, so they can be productive members of society.
