A suprise move in Lake Charles!
McNeese State University, Stephen F. Austin's conference rival, fired head football coach Tommy Tate.
There is not a lot information regarding the move. The American Press in Lake Charles is reporting that Tate was given the choice or resigning or being fired by McNeese State University president Robert Hebert.
I'm not sure what the motivation towards this move is, but this once proud I-AA football program has won just 10-games since 2004.
The Cowboys started this season 1-3 including losses against I-A programs.
Tate led McNeese State to 49-wins and 26-losses including 3-straight Southland Conference championships from 2001 to 2003.
Tate is also an alum of MSU.
