President Bush Talks School Safety

The nation's leaders hosted a conference Tuesday to talk about ways to keep students safe in American schools.

Several school shootings over the past couple weeks have forced educators to tighten security, but several East Texas school administrators have safety measures that have been in place for years.

The Eastview Academy in Lufkin put several policies in place more than a decade ago when the school opened. All teachers have access to a cell phone when they are not inside the facility.

Anyone who comes to campus must wear a pass indicating they have permission to be inside the school.

No one - including parents - can enter the Eastview Academy unless they ring a doorbell. More than 50 students there are locked in during the day and are not allowed to open the for anyone but themselves.
