Forestry Hall of Fame Gets a New Inductee

The Texas Forestry Hall of Fame has a new inductee. The museum hosted its fifth annual TREEmendous celebration Tuesday night in Lufkin.

The 2006 honoree is Brady Wadsworth, who is deceased. Wadsworth started a foundation to help private landowners reforest their land.

There was also a silent auction featuring dozens of items donated to the non-profit organization. The Texas Forestry Museum is the largest of its kind in the U.S.

Museum director, Carol Riggs, said, "The TREEmendous celebration is our largest fundraiser of the Texas Forestry Museum. Of course, because of Rita, we had to cancel [last year] and so we've been kind of playing catch up all year, and we're hoping to let this year's be very successful and take us over the top."

The Texas Forestry Hall of Fame honors both deceased and living persons who have had made substantial and lasting contributions to forestry and forest conservation in the state.
