Angelina College outfielder Andrew Kainer comes from a long line of baseball talent.
Kainer's father and his two uncles played high school baseball in Houston and all played collegiately as well.
Andrew's cousin, Carson, is a star outfielder at the University of Texas. Carson was selected by the Cinicinnati Reds during Major League Baseball's Amateur Draft over the summer.
The day before Carson was going to sign with the Reds a doctor told Carson he was experiencing kidney failure and he needed a new kidney.
Carson's father and a brother were a match as potential kidney donors. It was Carson's father and Andrew's Uncle Ronnie who eventually donated one of his kidneys.
The transplant was a success. In fact, Carson was released from the hospital earlier this month. Carson plans on returning to the University of Texas for his senior season.
Andrew Kainer is optimisitic about his cousin's recovery, "I just hope for a full recovery so that he can have a great year at UT and fulfill his dream of playing professional baseball."
