Not much is left of the Zavalla Volunteer Fire Department after fire ripped through the building earlier this week.
"When the fire department first burned down, it was emotional for all of us. We were all just real hurt. We worked very hard to get what was in there," says Volunteer Firefighter Greg Weisinger.
Saturday, firefighters worked really hard filling the boot, taking donations, hoping to replace equipment lost in the fire. They are getting help from other East Texas fire departments.
Though volunteers firefighters are saddened by their loss, they say there is a reason to smile. They have support from the community, and they are already building the new fire station.
"When a community comes together like this, it's very supportive, and it has made all of us very proud to be here and do what we do for the community," says Weisinger.
