At 1:32 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27th, a man broke into the Okay convenience store located at the corner of Atkinson and Paul Streets in Lufkin. Surveillance cameras caught the crime on tape. The suspect appeared to be a white male around 20 years old.
The suspect spent 45 minutes hanging around the store and trying to break in. He first tried to pull the doors open. Then, he came back with a board and hit the door glass, but couldn't break it. Finally, he retrieved a metal pipe and broke the door glass and got inside.
After unsuccessfully trying to get into the cash register, the suspect finally gave up and grabbed a couple of packs of Winston cigarettes and ran out of the store, heading back down Paul towards Loop 287.
The light blue hooded jacket worn by this suspect has a large, distinctive logo on the back that is believed to say "Fahrenheit, Zero Degrees."
Also, a suspicious white Mazda pickup was seen in the area around the time of this break-in, but officers are not sure if that pickup is related to this crime.
This suspect appeared to be a pretty inexperienced burglar. Help us get him locked up before he gets any more experience.
