Crash Victims are Recovering in Lufkin

Highway troopers said the man whose leg was partially amputated in a traffic accident Monday in Angelina County may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Eighteen-year-old Lucas Morein of Henderson had worked all night, and may have drifted off before the crash.

Morein was headed north on Highway 69 near Huntington and veered into the southbound lane. That's when he crashed into 30-year-old Christopher Hopson of Huntington.

Morein's lower left leg was cut off in the wreck. Hopson has head, neck, and side injuries.

Both men are recovering in Lufkin hospitals. They are expected to be okay. Citations are pending.
