Dog Allegedly Attacks Other Dogs and Girl

by Jessica Cervantez

A dog is being quarantined after an attack in Lufkin Sunday.  The incident happened in a neighborhood by Chambers Park.

Animal control officers were called to the scene after a Rottweiler apparently got out of a fenced-in area and attacked two other dogs. The owner of the injured dogs tried to break up the attack when the dog bit her.  The owner suffered minor injuries.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Juan Ruiz, the assistant director of animal control, said, "We are holding the dog on quarantine.  State law requires us that we quarantine any animal that has been bitten.  It says we hold the animal for ten days, we will hold him for the ten days, the case is still pending, it's still open."

The Rottweiler's owner was out of town at the time of the incident.  The 9-year-old Rottweiler was up to date on his rabies shots.
