Funeral services for Woodrow Hood, 90, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Dr. John Greene and LaVan Watts officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Cemetery.
Mr. Hood was born March 6, 1916 in Eufaula, Oklahoma, to the late Ida (Rightnowar) and Carter Albert Hood, and died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in a local hospital.
A former resident of Sweeny, Mr. Hood had resided in Lufkin for the past 28 years. He retired from Phillips Petroleum, after 36 years of service as a stillman. Mr. Hood enjoyed spending time with his family, and was known for his wit.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dovie Hood of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Marie and LaVan Watts of Lufkin; granddaughters and husbands, Ana Marie and Mark Watts of Lufkin, Amy Jatan and Mark Wych of Huntington and Aran Lea and Kristin Greene of Lufkin; great-granddaughter and husband, Amanda Marie and Jay Burns of Clovis, New Mexico; great-grandson, Garrett LaVan Greene of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Natalie Jatan Wych of Huntington; great-grandson, Warren Kristopher Greene of Lufkin; great-granddaughters, Emma Kate Greene and Audra Lea Greene, both of Lufkin; great-great-granddaughters, JoAnna Marie Burns and Samantha Leigh Burns, both of Clovis, New Mexico; sisters, Ruby Marie Hearron of Amarillo and Hazel Mill of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces and nephews.
