Aggies Tops in Austin

Unranked Texas A-and M has upset the 11th-ranked Texas Longhorns...12-7...on Texas' home turf. It was the 113th meeting between Texas and Texas A-and-M in a rivalry that dates back to 1894.

The Aggies hadn't beaten Texas in this series since 1999. A Texas win would have locked up the Big 12 South and a berth in the conference title game. But instead it was an Aggie victory to legitimize the program's resurgence under fourth-year coach Dennis Franchione.

The Aggies' win puts the Oklahoma Sooners in position to clinch the Big 12 Confernce Spouth Division title tomorrow with a win at Oklahoma State. Texas has to be pulling for Oklahoma State for their chance to play for the conference crown. The South Division champion will play North Division champion Nebraska for the Big 12 title.

KTRE Sports Director Shawn Clynch is in Austin for the Texas rivalry game.  For a complete recap of the game watch the East Texas News at 6 and on Nightcast at 10.
