Black Friday Pays Off for Retailers

Friday morning customers stood in long lines for hours before East Texas stores opened, hoping to get a good deal. Belks Store Manager, Susan Coats says the day after Thanksgiving is very busy and not only did the store have heavy traffic, but shoppers bought lots of gifts.

"Oh yes, oh yes, yesterday was a very good day everybody is getting ready for Christmas and we had great sales and great values on everything, so it turned out to be a very successful day for us," says Coats.

Though black Friday is over, holiday shoppers are still flooding east stores. "As a matter of fact I opened at 8:00 a.m. this morning. I was really surprised to see how many people were at the door ready to go shopping, but we had some special buys," says Coats.

The weekend profits are also a boost to the East Texas economy.
