Wal-Mart Expands Generics Program To All 50 States

Wal-Mart says it is expanding its four dollar generic prescription program to eleven more states, completing the launch of the discount drug plan throughout its 38-hundred pharmacies across the U-S.

Beginning tomorrow, the four dollar generic prescription program will be offered in pharmacies in Colorado, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Wal-Mart kicked off the discount program in Florida in September, with initial plans to expand beyond the state in January 2007. However, the retailer accelerated the plan's expansion over the past few months, prompting rivals such as Target and B-J's Wholesale Club to launch similar programs.
