East Texas Hospital Performs a Medical First

An East Texas hospital is now able to diagnose cardiovascular disease earlier than before.

Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin is the first hospital in the area to get a 64-slice CT scanner. The Cardiac CTA allows doctors to see blockage in coronary arteries in a matter of minutes using a non-invasive imaging system.

The CT scanner produces detailed three-dimensional images used for diagnosis. It also diagnoses bleeding or clotting in the brain quickly, which is especially important for stroke patients.
