State School Celebrates the Holidays

by Ramonica R. Jones

The Lufkin State School hosted its annual Holiday Parade Monday. All kinds of festive floats could be seen along Highway 69 North during the event.

From Kris Kringle to lots of lights to merry music from the Lufkin Panther band, there were dozens of entries in this year's parade.

Last year, the school received specific guidelines from state officials to use the word holiday instead of Christmas when describing its festivities. Not everyone observes the Christmas holiday, so the state school can no longer decorate the campus with religious symbols or themes.
