Police are Checking Child Safety Seats

Car wrecks are the leading cause of accidental injury-related death for children ages 14 and under. Child safety seats can save a kid's life in a crash, but they can be difficult to properly install.

The Lufkin Police Department will be checking child safety seats Thursday at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center. The checkups will start at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and end at 5:00 p.m.

Parents will get hands-on instruction from certified child passenger safety technicians who will examine each child safety seat for correct use, installation, and recalls.
