A man who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. paid a visit to Lufkin Sunday afternoon. Minister, historian, and civil rights advocate, Dr. Calvin Sylvester Morris, was the special guest speaker at the Abundant Life United Methodist Church in Lufkin.
Morris, at one time, was the executive director of Atlanta's Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Non-Violent Change. The civil rights activist has also worked closely with Jesse Jackson and the late Coretta Scott King.
Sunday afternoon, Morris looked backed on the effectiveness of the civil rights movement.
