Proud Of East Texas: Depot Museum

While the golden age of railroading may be past, there is one place in Tyler where you can step back in time to those bygone days. The Cotton Belt Depot Museum contains more than 200 model engines and more than 1,000 rolling stock pieces.

The display is built around the Bragg collection, valued at more than $200,000. A train layout donated by Tylerite Bill Savarese enables visitors to actually run the trains themselves.  A group of beautifully handcrafted wooden trains provide the icing on the cake for this prize collection.

The museum, located in the Cotton Belt Railroad Depot, at 210 East Oakwood, is open Monday through Friday. Admission is free.
