Hit and Run Arrest, Child In Hospital

Family and friends of Kurinsai Jackson, 4,  gathered at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital's emergency room shortly after the child was hit by a car early Monday morning.   The child was hit by an SUV while he was standing in front of his home on Jordan Street.

His sister, Shaquila Matthews heard the accident. She said, "And that's when my mama started hollering and I turned around. All I saw was a shoe and I didn't know what it was and then that's when I turned around and saw my brother laying on the road."

The grandmother, Gladys Anderson updated family on the child's condition. "His right leg is broken and he has a little trauma around his right side of his ear and his skull up in the front and it knocked him about 70 feet. "

The child was lifeflighted to a Houston children's hospital. He is seriously hurt, but expected to recover.

Giselda Acosta, 27,  was arrested for not stopping and helping. This is a third degree felony. Witnesses say she was driving very fast when the boy was hit.
