The Lufkin City Council is now considering an ordinance that would regulate where alcohol could be sold. Many people showed up for a City Council meeting to speak out about the proposed distance ordinance.

The ordinance would prohibit the sale of alcohol near certain establishments, like schools and churches. Most of those who attended the meeting were there to support the ordinance.

The City Council approved the first reading of the alcohol ordinance. A second reading will be scheduled later.
