Lufkin Police Report - 12/21/06

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:  1000 block of Henderson St.  A chain was cut from the front gate of a fenced residence Wednesday.  Nothing else was damaged and nothing was missing.

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION:  1300 block of Myrna St.  A vacant house was broken into sometime in the past month and a Craftsman pressure washer was stolen.

THEFT:  1900 block of Howard.  A woman reported that she was bilked out of a substantial amount of money in a fraudulent lottery.  The woman received mail in her deceased husband's name saying he had won the Atlantic Lottery and wanted a "tax" payment before the winnings were sent.  The victim sent that "tax" payment but instead of receiving a lottery check she received another letter saying she owed a "fine" of $2000.  The victim did not send a second check but notified police.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE:  600 block of W. Frank.  A man reported that a tenant took his pickup Monday without permission and hasn't returned it.

THEFT:  1300 block of Abney.  Three gumball machines were stolen from a washateria Wednesday night.
