Fifty-percent off, 25% off, sales, sales ,sales... that is what is driving East Texans to the stores Tuesday.

Kris Hoepfner, the Target store manager, said, "We had a lot of guests waiting before the doors even opened this morning."

Laurie Ellington, who is visiting from Houston, said she always hits the stores the day after Christmas.

She said, "I'm taking advantage of the sales. It's like shopping the day after Thanksgiving. You always want to get that little extra bang for your buck."

Many shoppers are using gift cards they received for Christmas, and some are making exchanges. Here are some tips to keep in mind when returning gifts.

Susan Coats, the store manager for the Belk department store, said, "Make sure and hang onto the receipt and have tags on them.  If you have a gift receipt, bring that. It makes returns a lot easier for us."

If you are looking for some good deals, retailers say now is the time to shop.
