Freedom Fighters: David Ferrell

David Ferrell entered the Army in 1943 at the age of twenty. By the time 1944 had ended, Ferrell had been wounded four times and had earned the Silver Star, The Bronze Star and four Purple Hearts for his bravery.

Ferrell's most serious wound came Christmas Day of 1944 when he was hit in the left hip from machine gun fire. It was during the Battle Of The Bulge in Bastogne, Belgium and snow was piled up over four feet deep. Fortunately he was discovered in time to save both his frostbitten feet and his life. At the age of 84 David Ferrell is proud to be among the sixteen million men and women who served our country during World War II.
