Lufkin Police Report - 01/10/07

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION:  700 block of McHale.  A home was broken into sometime Tuesday and assorted jewelry and some blank checks were stolen.

BURGLARY:  1300 block of Myrna.  A car was broken into Monday night or Tuesday and the stereo was stolen.

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION:  2200 block of N. Raguet St.  A vacant house was broken into sometime during the past week.  Evidence showed that someone had rummaged through some items but the caretaker was unsure if anything was missing at the time of the report.

BURGLARY OF A HABITATION:  300 block of Alton St.  A home was broken into sometime Tuesday and a watch and a small amount of cash were stolen.

FAILURE TO IDENTIFY:  2300 block of S. First St.  A woman involved in a car accident in late November was found to have lied to the investigating officer about her name.  The woman's real identity was discovered and a warrant has been requested for the woman's arrest on a misdemeanor charge of Failure to Identity.

TERRORISTIC THREAT:  1800 block of Sayers St.  An apartment manager reported that her life was threatened by a tenant during a discussion over rental fees.

THEFT:  700 block of Tom Temple.  A license plate was reported to have been stolen off a vehicle Tuesday.  The owner called back later to say her husband had allowed the former owner to come get the plate. Case cleared; no theft occurred.

ASSAULT:  2200 block of S First St.  A man reported that he was assaulted by two known suspects Sunday afternoon.  The man said he was eating in his truck in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant when two men approached his truck.  Both men hit him in the face and head and, as he tried to leave, they tore off one outside mirror and kicked a dent in his truck.  The man had visible bruising on his face.

FORGERY / COUNTERFEITING:  900 block of N. Timberland Dr.  A business owner reported several business checks stolen and forged over the weekend.  An employee was questioned and confessed to the crime.  A warrant has been requested

THEFT:  400 block of N. Timberland Dr.  A woman left her purse in the grocery cart Monday evening and it was gone when she went back to look for it.

BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE:  200 block of Church St.  A car was broken into and the stereo and assorted jewelry was stolen Monday night.

THEFT:  700 block of Timberland Dr.  A man reported that he dropped his wallet while shopping and when he noticed it missing he went back for it and it was gone.
