On the morning of Friday, January 5, 2007, a shop at 1115 Kurth Drive was struck by thieves. When the business owner returned just after lunch, he discovered that several thousand dollars worth of car parts had been stolen from the fenced yard of his shop.
The thieves loaded up the front end clip, which consists of the front fenders and hood, of a 1982 Chevy dump truck. They also took a large two-piece drive shaft that was to be installed on that dump truck. The thieves also stole several heads, crankshafts, and a couple of thousand dollars in other assorted auto parts.
Two black men were seen behind the shop that Friday morning in a white long-bed extended-cab Chevy pickup. These men may have stolen these items to sell for scrap. Since the price of scrap metal has risen, so have this type of thefts.
