Freedom Fighters: Girlie Fulgham

Girlie Fulgham of Brownsboro was drafted into the Army in February of 1942. During his three-and-a-half years service, he took part in four invasions and was awarded the Purple Heart and a series of Battle Stars.

During the battle for Okinawa, Fulgham was wounded in the head and sent to Saipan for recovery. Now, at ninety years of age, Girlie Fulgham says if he was physically able, he'd do it all over again because he's "proud to be an American."
