The HOPE Center of North Lufkin feeds, clothes, and helps low-income residents get much-needed health care. Faith-based leaders at New Zion Baptist Church founded the facility to serve the people who live in that area, but some residents in that community have concerns and questions about the agency's ownership and leadership.
Rev. Cedric Kenebrew said, "Everything is intact. As a matter of fact, 2007 is going to be an even better year for us than any year before because we've got a lot of new things that we're planning to do, and so everything is up and rolling and we're going strong."
The HOPE Center was just given a generous grant through the Deep East Texas Council of Governments to further its mission of Helping Other People to Excel.
