DEAD ON SCENE: 2200 KNIGHT St. Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Lufkin Police received a call of a dead body in the woods near Knight and Dale Streets in northeast Lufkin. The partially-clothed body of an adult female was found by an area resident and reported to a relative who called police. The body appeared to have been there for at least several days, and decomposition of the body was well under way. The woman has not been identified as of 9 a.m. Wednesday. An autopsy will be performed in Beaumont today to determine the cause and manner of death
CHILD IN NEED OF SUPPORT: 3200 block of Daniel McCall Dr. A two-year-old child was found wandering alone in an apartment complex just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Officers searched for a parent or guardian for an hour-and-a-half before finding the child's grandmother at another apartment complex nearby. The grandmother stated that she and the child's mother had argued earlier, and she thought the mother had taken the child and was unaware that the child was out wandering alone. The case was referred to Child Protective Services.
THEFT: 3100 block of S. First St. A woman reported that half of her cash was stolen from her purse sometime during the past week.
UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: 4000 block of N. Medford Dr. A pickup was reported stolen from a truck stop where it had been parked early Tuesday morning. The truck was recovered unoccupied later Tuesday in Harris County
BURGLARY OF A HABITATION: 800 block of Ellis Ave. Several pieces of furniture, a television, and pictures were stolen from a residence sometime Monday night or Tuesday.
HARASSMENT: 100 block of Menefee St. A woman reported that her teenaged daughter was receiving messages on the computer cursing the teen. The messages were reportedly sent by a schoolmate.
FELONY THEFT: 1400 block of S. First St. A company fuel card was stolen and used several times over the past months. Over $1500 worth of unauthorized fuel charges were on the card.
BURGLARY: 1100 block of Atkinson Dr. Jewelry, a gun, and a maroon Honda Accord car were stolen during a residential burglary Tuesday.
UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: 700 block of N. Raguet St. A man reported on Tuesday that he left his dark blue GMC pickup running at a convenience store Sunday afternoon, and it was stolen while he was in the store.
BURGLARY OF A VEHICLE: Hill St. A car that had been broken down on the roadside for four days was found to have been broken into. The door glass was shattered and the stereo was stolen
THEFT: 1300 block of S. John Redditt Dr. A landlord reported that a check for back rent was written on a closed account.
THEFT: 1700 block of Birdsong St. A landlord reported that evicted tenants apparently took a refrigerator with them when they moved out. The refrigerator belonged to the landlord.
BURGLARY OF A BUILDING: 500 block of N. Timberland Dr. A car lot office was broken into Monday night. A box of collectible cigarette lighters was stolen.
