Murderer Sentenced to 25 Years in Prison

An East Texas man has pleaded guilty and another is preparing for trial in connection with the murder of an elderly Sabine County man.

A judge sentenced 18-year-old Leon Alex to 25 years in prison for the murder of Fred Easter.

The 78-year-old was found dead last year in his Bronson home. Easter had been stabbed several times and his trailer was burned down.

Investigators believe robbery was the motive and Alex and 29-year old Rusty Horton killed him and set the fire to cover up the crime.

Easter was friends with both men. Horton's trial was set for Monday, but was reset for later this year.
